Among the best films depicting operations targeting cartel organizations, this one truly impressed me. The central focus revolved around confronting drug trafficking. It tells the story of an FBI agent brought into a clandestine special unit designed to strike at the root of the problem rather than simply addressing its peripheral elements—a feat that requires collaboration across borders. Each operation unfolds in secrecy, sometimes demanding extreme measures and considerable effort to bring it to a halt. As I mentioned, this was a fantastic film, especially coming after a documentary like 'Cartel Land'. It’s difficult to fully explain the plot, as it prioritizes action over dialogue. The core narrative follows a specialized unit pursuing and neutralizing criminals. However, the characters are exceptionally well-defined; each major character has their own motivations driving their actions, which significantly shapes how the story unfolds with a high degree of intensity. The actors portraying these roles were simply superb, including Emily Blunt, who seems to have shifted toward physically demanding parts following 'Edge of Tomorrow'. Josh Brolin also delivered a strong performance, alongside a promising young British actor whose name I don’t know, but Benicio Del Toro truly stole the show. His role was surprisingly powerful, completely unrefined and aggressive. Particularly memorable was his final scene—completely unexpected, yet fitting—and one that few actors would have agreed to perform. It's well-executed with restrained violence, but the message is clear: a strategy of confronting dark forces by eliminating the leadership first. Easily among the best films this year, so I wholeheartedly recommend it if you’re interested in this kind of subject matter. 8½/10
