"Shrek" and "Fiona" are back, settling into his forest home to enjoy a life of domesticity. However, their peace is quickly disrupted when they find "Donkey" has already moved in—they’re newlyweds and just wanted some time alone! It's hard to believe how oblivious that creature could be. To complicate things further, a royal messenger arrives with an invitation for them all to attend a formal dinner at the castle to commemorate their marriage. The problem is, neither of them realizes "Fiona" has transformed into an ogre! Predictably, the King and Queen aren’t thrilled by this revelation, and after some initial attempts at formality, it escalates into chaos. Meanwhile, "Prince Charming," still harboring feelings for the princess, teams up with "Fairy Godmother" to stir up trouble in their newfound family life. I have to say, I'm not a fan of Eddie Murphy’s performances, and here his portrayal of the irritating donkey doesn’t help—the constant (and unfunny) chatter became tiresome after just ten minutes; I would have gladly paid for him to be relocated somewhere far away, like the moon. The rest of the film is quite enjoyable, filled with mishaps as this family learns that appearances can be deceiving and it's important to evaluate people based on their character rather than how they look—maybe you’ll find that being large and a little rough isn’t so bad. "Puss In Boots" really shines in this one, and I appreciated the concept of an anti-fairy causing trouble instead of typical saccharine sweetness. There's plenty for adults as well as children to appreciate, and I thought it was nearly as good as the original from 2001. It’s a genuinely fun movie.
