I’ve really struggled to connect with Michelle Williams’ acting style; her quiet, subdued way of delivering lines consistently leaves me feeling let down, and this film doesn’t change that. She plays "Lizzy," whose cat gets into a fight with a pigeon—she throws it out the door, but her neighbor/landlord, "Jo" (Hong Chau), rescues it. It seems she's more preoccupied with this bird than with her tenant’s persistent problem of cold water. Soon, they find themselves working together to help the bird heal its wing while Lizzy prepares for an upcoming sculpture exhibition. That covers the initial portion of the film; from there, the story follows a predictable dramatic arc, complete with a fairly amusing crisis and some family history that needs addressing. In my view, the clear standout in this lengthy and somewhat repetitive narrative is the bird itself. It seems far more aware of what's going to happen and appreciative of the direction the story will take than either of the main performers. The production quality is adequate, but the film ultimately feels like it’s missing a central point or purpose. It lacks believability and significance, and while I wouldn’t describe it as dull, it’s not particularly funny and doesn't offer anything truly worth seeing on the big screen.
