The title fits perfectly! The story revolves around a man named “Smith” (Clive Owen), who finds himself in an unfortunate situation while simply sitting on a park bench. Suddenly, he's pulled into rescuing a pregnant woman from attackers and then assisting with her delivery. It’s unclear why these criminals are after the expectant mother. "Donna" (Monica Bellucci) doesn't offer much explanation either, and as they attempt to protect the baby, they realize their pursuers won't back down easily. While there isn’t a great deal of suspense, the film offers some amusement with Paul Giamatti in a new role, portraying “Hertz,” who rents out hitmen instead of cars and becomes entangled in corruption within the U.S. government involving senators and arms dealers. The connection between all this and the baby remains a mystery that "Smith" must unravel, which proves to be a perilous undertaking. There are numerous explosions, chases, and action sequences, maintaining a consistently brisk tempo; however, the storyline is rather flimsy, and Owen's performance lacks impact, leading to a predictable sequence of escalating dangers. I did find the final five minutes enjoyable, but it could have been significantly improved if director Michael Davis had chosen a more compelling actor for the lead role.
