I generally like Jason Statham’s movies because they reliably deliver what they promise. When I'm looking for that kind of experience, his films usually succeed better than others in their category. However, as someone who appreciates the *Jason Bourne* series, it was difficult to ignore how openly 'Shelter' borrowed plot elements, thematic ideas, characters and even lines from those movies. These parallels actually made me laugh rather than annoyed me. If a director like Paul Greengrass had been involved, along with more talented performers and improved writing, it possibly could have been an excellent film deserving of a higher rating. Nevertheless, it’s still enjoyable enough to earn a score of seven. (Bill Nighy's acting felt very exaggerated, though; I've never seen him act quite like that.)
