I really loved this film; it's easily among the best I’ve seen recently. The performances were solid, the story seemed carefully considered, and I found it quite amusing. While appreciating George A. Romero zombie films and Monty Python-style comedy certainly enhances the experience, those aren't requirements to enjoy it. It successfully blends a number of different styles—a coming-of-age story, a buddy film, humor, romance, and horror—and manages to succeed as each of them. Shaun and Ed feel instantly familiar; they’re characters that will likely remind you of people you know. Their expressions, the things they say, and how they act together contribute significantly to some of the movie's strongest moments. The special effects makeup is also quite impressive, and there's a fair amount of gore as well. I would highly recommend getting your own copy.
