Sharper is a crime drama centered on four people tangled up in schemes involving deception, larceny, and disloyalty. The story unfolds with an unconventional arrangement, presenting us with four sections that focus on each of the primary characters at various points in their histories. I found this approach engaging because it created a fragmented storyline, challenging viewers to assemble the puzzle of what was happening and how events played out over time. However, the novelty diminished somewhat after the third shift in perspective; the unfolding developments became rather foreseeable. The acting was generally quite good. Sebastian Stan delivers a strong performance, and I’ve been appreciating seeing him take on these more antagonistic parts, reminiscent of his work in Fresh. Julianne Moore and Briana Middleton also stood out, demonstrating impressive emotional depth. Justice Smith's contribution felt underwhelming. Ultimately, Sharper proved to be an agreeable film. The pacing was appropriate for its length of two hours, and it contained numerous surprises and changes in direction, even though the central idea became entirely predictable by the final third.
