I hesitate to admit it, but "Shark Killer" was surprisingly entertaining. My enjoyment likely stemmed from Derek Theler’s playfully exaggerated portrayal of “Chase,” a local charmer who seems to effortlessly win over women! He’s called to his stepbrother’s house and given a task: recover a diamond swallowed by a black-finned shark before their rival, "Nix" (Arnold Vosloo), finds it. It doesn't take long to realize that “Chase” possesses ninja abilities, which come in handy when he and his reluctant partner, “Jasmine” (Erica Cerra), find themselves pursued by a formidable opponent. If you’re seeking a film centered around shark attacks, Tommy Wiseau’s "Killer Shark" (2023) would be a more appropriate choice because this action drama—which also develops into a fairly standard romance—has very little actual shark footage. I believe there are some South African accents present, although they aren't consistently delivered enough to confirm it – and the acting itself might benefit from being lost at sea. Sheldon Wilson makes good use of his leading attribute—his looks—in this low-budget production, creating something that, despite my best efforts, I couldn’t dislike.
