This is a pretty good shark movie featuring Casper Van Dien and Ernie Hudson, filmed along the coast of South Africa. A marine biologist travels to a town in South Africa and finds that a coworker has died, and another person has been doing some questionable research involving sharks and humans—apparently, they’re trying to develop a cancer cure. "Shark Attack," released in 1999, is an acceptable made-for-TV shark movie. It presents a likable lead character (Casper Van Dien), a charming and smart female character (Jenny McShane), a humorous supporting player (Tony Caprari), some characters of varying quality (Bentley Mitchum and Ernie Hudson), impressive South African scenery, a storyline that moves away from the usual "Jaws" copycat approach, and plenty of action sequences, especially towards the end. The movie has a runtime of one hour and thirty-five minutes and was filmed in Port Alfred, South Africa. GRADE: B-/C+
