It's hard to believe two films called Shaft have been released so close together, and that they both feature Sam Jackson. Fortunately, this one works well. It’s definitely worth seeing, unlike the other film. Both movies include Roundtree, who is excellent. Christian Bale delivers a solid performance, and the actor from Westworld is also quite good, particularly during the action sequences—they are very violent.
