I didn't really click with ’Seven Psychopaths’. It almost manages to be a decent film, but ultimately I couldn’t get on board with it. There are parallels to problems I noticed in the director’s earlier work, ’In Bruges’; although this one is better than that movie. The humor felt weak and the performers didn't seem to be operating at their peak. The presence of Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, and Woody Harrelson together should have been a winning combination, so I regret to say that it didn’t work out for me. The plot has some strong points and is generally interesting, but the way everything ties together—the parts in between and how it's presented—just wasn’t fulfilling. His first two films were somewhat of a letdown, thankfully Martin McDonagh then produced two excellent ones. I am hoping his next film will be as well.
