It’s a really tangled movie, making it difficult to discuss without potentially giving away key plot points, so maybe focusing on the cast is the best approach, as McDonagh assembled quite an impressive group of actors. Don't go in expecting what the trailer or posters suggest; _Seven Psychopaths_ has absolutely nothing to do with them. Olga Kurylenko (_Max Payne, Quantum of Solace_) feels like she’s wasted here, but at least Martin McDonagh acknowledges that the female characters aren’t a priority in his film and that their lack of development is something he recognizes as a shortcoming (in a rather odd way). I've been a fan since seeing her in _Hitman_, and was really impressed by her work in _Centurion_. Although she doesn't have much to do in this movie, it’s always good to see her get more roles, especially in something worthwhile. Woody Harrelson (_Natural Born Killers_, _Defendor_) is another actor I’ve followed for a while now. He’s convincing as a psychopath, he’s a strong performer, he's funny and has a great screen presence. I haven’t found anything to dislike about his performances yet. Sam Rockwell (_Choke, Iron Man 2_) is someone who I’ve only recently come to appreciate, but he’s fantastic. I’d seen him in lots of things before and enjoyed it, but the connection didn't click until now. In _Seven Psychopaths_, I think this is his best role yet; he’s definitely the standout character. Abbie Cornish (_Limitless, Sucker Punch_) happens to be Australian, like me. That being said, she’s great, and I just never really considered her a favorite in the same way as some others. Again, it's not her fault that there isn't much room for women in this film; the writing is unfortunate but handled reasonably well. She gets more screen time than Olga Kurylenko, though it would have been nice to see even more of her performance. Christopher Walken (_Pulp Fiction, Sleepy Hollow_) is one of those actors I’d watch a movie just because he's in it, and I can't really explain why. Colin Farrell (_In Bruges, Fright Night_) and I simply don’t seem to connect well with each other. It’s not like I dislike him; he’s a perfectly acceptable actor with a good accent – I just never understood the enthusiasm surrounding him. He manages to be the lead in _Seven Psychopaths_, but everyone else on screen pretty much steals his thunder. It's uncommon for me to give a film a rating of 80% or higher, so if that means anything at all, then I strongly suggest you watch _Seven Psychopaths_; it’s well worth the money. 84% -Gimly
