You seem like someone who might be looking for an opportunity to lash out violently. The film manages to highlight both the strengths and weaknesses inherent in bringing Johnny Depp and Stephen King’s work to the screen. Depp portrays a writer experiencing divorce and seclusion in a rural setting, when he's confronted by John Turturro, alleging Depp plagiarized his work. A series of puzzling events unfolds from there... Despite its somewhat fragile foundation, the movie is enjoyable primarily because of the two leads, who both deliver distinctive quirks and an unsettling presence. However, it feels limited in what it offers and struggles to maintain a sense of credibility, while also being unexpectedly devoid of gore, which will likely disappoint viewers expecting a typical Stephen King experience. The explanation at the end feels contrived considering everything that’s happened previously; the suspension of disbelief is pushed so far that you're left questioning the actions of all the other characters involved. Nevertheless, Johnny and John, sporting unusual hats and hairstyles, provide entertaining moments and prevent David Koepp’s film from being a complete failure. 6/10
