The film *Searching* is a mystery thriller presented through the viewpoint of its characters’ computer screens. This technique often feels forced in similar movies, but here it's skillfully woven into the narrative, becoming essential to both. John Cho delivers a strong performance as the lead; his character's relationship with his daughter propels the story forward, and his portrayal of the emotional distress he experiences when realizing their bond was superficial is particularly well done. The questions surrounding the couple’s daughter generate considerable suspense and intrigue as the audience attempts to understand her alongside the father. The editing is exceptional, keeping the plot flowing smoothly even while juggling numerous windows and screen views. While there are several unexpected turns—some effective, others less so—the film ultimately felt a little overstuffed in its conclusion. Despite that, it was generally very good.
