An absence of linoleum from a kitchen floor hints at a recently moved refrigerator, and behind it lies a clue indicating the victim’s indulgence in one of the seven deadly sins—gluttony—leading to the unsettling possibility of five more equally terrible killings. As these predictions unfortunately come true, the detectives must quickly learn to collaborate despite their differing methods. Adding to their predicament is the growing suspicion that they themselves are being manipulated by the killer, who seems to view himself as an instrument of divine retribution. Fincher directs both actors effectively in unraveling this mystery, utilizing dialogue sparingly but with impact and maintaining a deliberate rhythm underscored by the music, knowing what ultimate fate awaits—though how it will unfold remains unpredictable. It's a crime drama that lingers in my mind, prompting new reflections with each viewing. Very good indeed.
