This new "Scream" installment is exceptionally well done, functioning as both a continuation and a fresh take on the franchise—a smart combination that places it among the best films of the year so far. The script manages to be consistently engaging, featuring dialogue that feels both sharp and pertinent, alongside some truly brutal and memorable violent scenes within the series’ history. The directorial team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, along with writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, create a respectful tribute to Wes Craven's original vision. The acting is excellent across the board, from those appearing for the first time to the returning familiar faces. They embody characters who openly tackle subjects geared toward film buffs; some less experienced moviegoers might miss certain nuances, but everyone should still find it an enjoyable experience in a theater setting. As a horror and mystery, it’s designed to keep audiences guessing and reacting throughout its duration with both humor and startling moments. I would absolutely suggest seeing it. Rating: A-
