The timing of this film’s release alongside Scary Movie is notable; both represent the final installments of worn-out series. However, unlike Scary Movie, which feels scattered and nonsensical, this one makes an effort to expand on its established structure, experiment with fresh ideas, and create something worthwhile. It's not a particularly strong movie when judged by any standard, but I believe it succeeds in achieving its intended purpose. The film is clearly designed as a cynical attempt to exploit nostalgia, yet it’s presented with considerable polish in both production quality and direction. As expected for this kind of project, the cast is full of well-known actors. Fortunately, the newer performers are capable and, though I don't foresee any of them reviving the franchise once the original stars have moved on, the movie works adequately as it stands.
