It’s genuinely baffling to me what the writers intended with this project. I doubt any film has ever fallen so completely flat in quite the same way as the Star Wars Holiday Special did. It feels like a random collection of recycled Three Stooges bits, scenes from previous programs, and elements reminiscent of Snoopy Come Home. My understanding is that they were testing whether Scooby Doo could function without its usual monsters, mysteries, and the rest of the core characters. I can’t imagine who would find this entertaining, possibly just a very young child who appreciates the dog but finds the standard series too intense. Even then, they wouldn't understand the supposed humor that references dated television programs.
