This was a decent movie aimed at children. The animation quality is impressive, and most of the voice acting was well done; Zac Efron’s portrayal of Fred stood out, as did Gina Rodriguez and Amanda Seyfried in their roles as Velma and Daphne. I didn't really like Will Forte’s take on Shaggy—I still believe Matthew Lillard has been ideal so far, even though they clearly sought a bigger name, but I don’t know if celebrity appeal truly draws audiences to films these days. It functions adequately as an animated film; I just don't care for the supernatural storylines in the Scooby-Doo series, but it should be acceptable for family viewing. If you aren’t deeply invested in the franchise, I can understand why some people might dislike this version. **3.25/5**
