Arkie shares a home with her octopus father, "Blister," on a peninsula where he works diligently to use sunlight to safeguard the fragile environment. She isn't an octopus herself; instead, she’s something like a human-and-tentacle combination, sporting just one green tentacle, and struggles when it comes to assisting him with his complicated devices for spreading the sunlight. Simultaneously, "The Keeper" in the nearby city of light has sent some people out looking for "Blister," believing he holds an energy source that could reunite him with his missing daughter. When "Blister" is taken into custody, "Arkie" must accompany him to the big city alongside her new companions, "Bunniguru" the rabbit and 'Egg,' in order to stop what's happening before he ends up completely destroyed. There are many silly escapades, a villain who resembles a mix of Terence Stamp and Lionel Jeffries, plus various gadgets and gizmos as they attempt the rescue. The script isn’t particularly strong, but the characters are enjoyable and there's a lot happening, along with an environmental theme that is presented in a playful way rather than forcefully. The plot explores familiar themes like loyalty, friendship, and perseverance, and there was considerable creativity put into the film’s visuals. I watched this movie by myself, which felt unfortunate; it really deserves to be seen on the big screen to fully appreciate the vibrant animation – it won't have the same impact when viewed at home.
