The setting of "Scare Me" is largely confined to a secluded cabin during winter, so the film's success hinges significantly on its limited number of performers. Aya Cash, who recently impressed in the second season of Amazon’s “The Boys,” delivers a strong performance in this focused and contained suspenseful story centered around two writers—one established, one facing difficulties—who challenge each other by inventing frightening tales. Chris Redd provides some needed levity and vitality as the pizza delivery person who becomes involved in their storytelling competition, which resembles a "rap battle" but uses scary stories instead of music. It’s reasonably enjoyable, though it might be more effectively presented as a stage production.
