The initial presentation for investors doesn’t go as planned, revealing extraordinary psychic abilities among the individuals involved—a development that immediately catches the attention of "ConSec" executives looking to profit. However, the most powerful of these “scanners,” a character named “Revok” (played by Michael Ironside), is intent on uniting his kind, dismantling the corporation, and seizing control globally. Some time passes, and “Vale” (Stephen Lack) is working at a fast-food restaurant when a disagreement with two critical women escalates into an escalator chase ending with him being injured. He then finds himself in a meeting with "Dr. Ruth" (Patrick McGoohan), who persuades him that “Revok” poses a threat and that infiltrating his group is the only way to stop him. Vale’s grasp of his own abilities is limited, but equipped with the drug "Ephemerol," he begins searching for his adversary. The ensuing events unfold as a series of increasingly dangerous and often bizarre investigations, during which he finds an unexpected ally in “Kim” (Jennifer O'Neill) and uncovers evidence of a security breach within the company. While the special effects are not particularly impressive, the narrative is solid, with Vale and Ironside both giving noteworthy performances as the plot proves to be more complex than initially suggested. McGoohan embraces his role with theatrical flair, and O’Neill’s performance feels somewhat inconsequential. The makeup department gets creative during the unusual ending, and overall it's a respectable sci-fi horror film that incorporates an element of suspense, critiques major pharmaceutical companies, and maintains a playful tone throughout.
