"Scandal" presents the kind of portrayal of wealthy individuals engaging in casual relationships that often creates a detachment, ultimately leading viewers unfamiliar with such lifestyles to feel disinterested or even bored. It’s therefore unexpected to find that this isn't what occurs; instead, quite the reverse is true. The movie also succeeds in arranging the events involving Christine Keeler, John Profumo—a prominent figure within the Conservative Party—and Yevgeny Ivanov, believed to be a Russian operative, into an understandable sequence. Although the most shocking elements have diminished in their political impact given shifts in societal norms, it remains a fascinating look at what transpired and those affected by the destructive publicity storm that followed.
