I honestly can’t understand why this film only has a user rating slightly above 70%—perhaps people don't expect an earnest romance to be as captivating, stimulating, clever, suspenseful, or full of action as some other directors’ acclaimed works. However, I have to say that this movie is rapidly moving up my list of all-time favorites, not just romantic movies either. Usually, I avoid romances because even though they can be lovely, they tend to create the impression that a perfect fairytale world exists. What's so remarkable about *Say Anything...* is that it doesn’t promote that idea; instead, it’s refreshingly straightforward and reassuring—it shows you don’t need much to find happiness if you have someone who loves you back just as deeply. This movie stands out because it was released in 1989 and still feels relevant today...because **LOVE is TIMELESS**. If you want to experience love in its purest form, definitely watch this one. _"I gave her my heart and she gave me a pen"_—it’s heartbreaking, but if you pay attention, you'll realize she gave him the pen because she couldn’t return his loving heart! It was a wonderful achievement by the director to resist trying to manufacture something extraordinary; that’s precisely what makes it so remarkable. It easily earns a _10/10_—it’s one of the best films about LOVE!
