Absolutely fantastic! It’s been a long time since I saw ‘Mary Poppins’ itself, but I still have vivid recollections of it from my childhood. That familiarity with the core elements of that movie is probably beneficial to have before watching this one – though not strictly necessary, as far as I can tell. Interestingly, P.L. Travers' criticisms regarding the animated portions of the 1964 film seem valid when viewed now—I’ve been on a Disney viewing spree since May, but to manage the workload, I decided to only watch films that were either purely animation or purely live-action, so *Mary Poppins* didn’t make the list. If she had her way, I would have seen it again fairly recently. Thanks a lot, Mr. Disney! Regardless, ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ is an exceptional film! It's full of warmth and compelling storytelling—I really enjoyed seeing Travers’ younger and older years contrasted. They manage to connect the two films effectively, while the Disney sequences – though prominent – also provide humor alongside substance. Then there are Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks. I already admire both actors immensely. Hanks portrays Walt Disney exceptionally well; he's outstanding in this role. However, it’s Thompson who truly shines. She is wonderful as Travers, a character who isn’t particularly easy to like, but Thompson keeps you engaged with her journey. She was good in *‘Treasure Planet’* and *‘Nanny McPhee’*, but this is the best performance I've seen from her yet. The supporting cast deserves recognition too: Colin Farrell, Ruth Wilson, and Paul Giamatti all make valuable contributions—especially Farrell. Jason Schwartzman and B. J. Novak are also quite good as the Sherman Brothers. It’s a delightful and well-crafted film. I can't praise it enough.
