Despite what many might assume given its modest production costs, this movie features genuinely funny performances from both Brenda Blethyn and Craig Ferguson. Grace [Blethyn] initially appears very proper, but after the death of her husband and subsequent loss of everything, she embraces Matthew’s [Ferguson] ambitious idea. They resolve to utilize her gardening skills to cultivate high-quality marijuana in just two weeks for sale at an extremely high price, which would alleviate her financial difficulties. The story includes numerous unexpected developments and romantic elements. The townspeople are aware of some aspects of Matthew and Grace's scheme, but they never anticipated the sheer volume that would be produced. Grace’s initial encounter with marijuana is particularly amusing, eliciting laughter, as does the scenario where the entire town becomes intoxicated when Matthew and Grace have to destroy their crop to avoid detection by law enforcement and a powerful drug trafficker who begins pursuing them. I've rewatched it repeatedly, and even my teenagers find it entertaining, commenting that "Grandma would be incredibly funny if she were in Grace’s situation." My appreciation goes out to Craig Ferguson, Brenda Blethyn, the cast, and the crew for their consistently amusing work!
