The performers were what kept this movie afloat, certainly. Not every single one, mind you, but most of the main cast members and Alice gave performances that were good enough to hold your attention. The screenplay, however, was disappointing. It possessed a lot of promise initially, genuinely so, but it failed to bring anything fresh to the horror genre, didn't challenge any conventions, and wasn’t particularly scary either. Ultimately, you are left with an unremarkable horror film that benefited from strong acting and direction that needs improvement in terms of shot composition, even though the lighting was well-executed. That’s really the only aspect of the production worthy of commendation; whoever handled the lighting clearly knew what they were doing, particularly during nighttime scenes. If the visuals had been more thoughtfully composed, it would have been a more engaging and less uninspired experience. The core problem rests with the script itself. If you can’t revise it into something original, then don't bother filming it. Despite all that, I give it a 10 out of 10 because the actors deserve recognition for their efforts; they rescued the film and made it possible to watch.
