Sarkar proved to be a really strong movie. Vijay delivers what feels like his finest performance yet, truly captivating in every moment he’s onscreen. The political themes were also very well done, with numerous lines drawing clear parallels to actual occurrences. It was enjoyable to watch Vijay interact with the public throughout the film. The background music is remarkable and complements his character perfectly. However, it isn't without its shortcomings. I have to say that the script doesn’t quite measure up to some of the other films released this year; it follows a very direct and uncomplicated path. I was hoping for more unexpected developments, but largely Vijay prevails over his adversaries with little challenge. It would have been nice if Varulaxmi had been given a more substantial part. Also, Keerthy Suresh’s presence felt unnecessary to the story. Ultimately, Sarkar wasn't made as pure entertainment but to convey an important political message. Don't go in anticipating something like Thupaaki or Kaththi because this film operates on a much larger scale. Its influence on society and politics is what truly distinguishes it, even with its imperfections.
