Sam, portrayed by Javon Walton, resides with his mother in a deteriorated housing complex located in Granite City. He often finds himself targeted by bullies, but the opportune arrival of his neighbor, Mr. Smith—played by Sylvester Stallone—leads the boy to suspect that his protector might be the long-lost hero everyone thought had disappeared. Despite Mr. Smith’s reluctance to confirm this possibility, Sam is set on convincing him to step in and prevent the city's further deterioration at the hands of his supposed "Nemesis." As a connection forms between them, it becomes apparent that Sam possesses admirable qualities and potential, while his older companion carries hidden burdens—though perhaps not the kind anyone anticipates. While Walton delivers a commendable performance, Stallone seems to be going through the motions, and the narrative feels like a combination of familiar DC/Marvel storylines supported by unremarkable writing and an insufficiently explored plot. The conclusion introduces a twist, but it doesn't quite manage to elevate the rest of this rather foreseeable film. Though visually acceptable, the movie is ultimately forgettable, leaving little impression from any of those involved.
