The film runs longer than it needs to and doesn't quite reach its full potential, though the parts that do work are acceptable. I found myself appreciating the performances from everyone involved; each actor seems to have done commendable work—otherwise, I likely would have given this movie a slightly worse rating. Lewis Pullman guides the story effectively, with Makenzie Leigh, Alfre Woodard and Bill Camp providing strong supporting roles. The younger actors also deliver solid portrayals, although Jordan Preston Carter particularly stood out. It was nice to see Pilou Asbæk as well. As mentioned earlier, the runtime is excessive; it felt considerably longer than 113 minutes, and a shorter length might have significantly improved things. I appreciated that, apart from what's expected, no character seemed completely safe—though one of the younger actors does appear to accomplish quite a lot relative to his age. Ultimately, I’d consider *‘Salem’s Lot'* a barely acceptable horror film.
