The film 'Saint Maud' offers a glimpse into an isolated and contemporary life, one that unfortunately feels familiar to many. The movie’s strength lies in the fact that Glass manages to keep viewers aligned with Maud’s perspective right up until the disturbing final moments; essentially, her actions stem from her own distorted psychology as she continues searching for a meaningful relationship to ease a long history of solitude. As a writer and director, Glass succeeds on numerous fronts, making it difficult to believe this is her first project, creating a sense of discomfort through an oppressive atmosphere, discovering fear in silence, stillness, and being alone.
