The film opens with a glimpse of a young woman tidying the car belonging to the Larrabee family, a prosperous household. She harbors feelings for their younger son, David, but this seems like an unattainable fantasy as she matures and is dispatched to Paris to study advanced cooking techniques. Returning home, a now considerably older David (played by William Holden) gives her a ride, and although he doesn’t initially recognize her, it becomes apparent that her affection remains unchanged—and that he feels the same way. This complicates matters for the elder brother, Linus (Humphrey Bogart), who is orchestrating a significant business deal involving his company's merger with another firm, which hinges on his brother marrying the daughter of the partner organization. David isn’t interested in this arrangement, but after an unfortunate incident involving his rear end and shattered glass, Linus devises a scheme to send Sabrina back to France. This seemingly resolute man fails to anticipate how spending time with this lively and clever young woman will affect him—and soon he finds himself just as captivated by her as his brother! John Williams contributes positively in the role of her reserved father; viewers familiar with "The Waltons" may spot Ellen Corby as the self-assured secretary, Miss McCardle. Billy Wilder’s screenplay is amusing and clever, and there's a palpable connection between the exceptionally charming Hepburn and Bogart. We also gain some insight into how not to prepare a soufflé omelette! It's an enjoyable experience.
