It’s disappointing to report that this film is simply not good, even as casual viewing while socializing. The initial idea had potential, and there was a time when I was genuinely curious about how the central deception would unfold, but that interest quickly disappeared. I believe Arnold did what he could with the material provided; however, most of the other actors were quite poor. Sam Worthington stands out slightly among them, though not by much. Combine this with characters who are incredibly stereotypical, exaggerated, and unpleasant, along with some truly awkward dialogue, and you’re left with people you'll actively dislike. We found ourselves celebrating when they met their end. The most significant problem lies in the editing. As I mentioned earlier, we wanted to become invested in the story, but it seemed either the director or editor was severely impaired during the cutting process. Numerous scenes and situations were nonsensical, and the situation worsened when we realized that the event which sets everything else in motion—the entire reason for the movie’s existence—was so poorly edited that we didn't understand what had occurred until a character explained it much later on. The last ten minutes made it clear that even if we *had* understood, it wouldn't have mattered because the "twist"—and I can’t stress enough how much I wish I could use larger quotation marks—is both predictable and rigid like a metal bar. There is no explanation for the betrayal itself, no reason given for the events depicted, nor any insight into why the characters behave as they do. Truthfully though, we shouldn't have expected character development or depth from people who likely have fewer than two lines of description in their scripts. It did lead to some amusing moments when the characters suddenly acted even more bizarre and confusing than usual. We started playing a game trying to determine whether scenes had been removed or if the writer/director was simply that unskilled. The one positive aspect is that they treated the blood and gore with seriousness, creating a few genuinely intense sequences. However, there isn't enough of it to attract fans of graphic violence. Skip this unless you’re desperate for some low-quality action featuring a passable performance from Arnold.
