I thought the movie was pretty decent in general, but it felt like the instances of manipulation and emotional abuse were obvious from early on. It's possible the director meant for this to be apparent, as a way of illustrating how chloe has been struggling with these kinds of experiences throughout her life. The plot development near the very end did take me by surprise, which I appreciated. There’s also a part of me that would have liked to see chloe manage to eliminate her “mother” independently, so she could escape the idea that people with disabilities are unable to defend themselves.
