"Manni," portrayed by Moritz Bleibtrey, urgently contacts his girlfriend to explain he’s lost DM100,000 on the subway and faces serious consequences unless he recovers it before noon. The story then follows three different possibilities as "Lola," played by Franka Potente, desperately searches for a way to obtain this considerable sum of money within twenty minutes. Could her father, who works at a bank, provide assistance—either willingly or not? Perhaps she could try her luck with roulette? Or maybe she should simply allow him to proceed with his plan and deal with the fallout? Regardless of what unfolds, she’ll need to move quickly; timing is absolutely essential. The film moves along rapidly, presenting both characters simultaneously attempting to resolve the situation—which occasionally leads to humor, sometimes tragedy, some property damage, revelations about personal matters, and various outcomes, though perhaps not always the ones hoped for, or maybe they are exactly what’s needed. It also offers an interesting look at how incredibly irritating brief periods of time can become when you're pressed for speed. This is clearly demonstrated by the bank security guard, as well as by traffic and pedestrians creating obstacles that a little patience would easily—and just as swiftly—resolve. The film has a distinctive feel to it; it’s concise and sharply focused, and I found it enjoyable.
