Films centered around female friend groups out on the town aren’t consistently entertaining, but they still draw attention. I decided to watch this one without high hopes, and those expectations weren't met. Still, it wasn’t entirely unpleasant. Scarlett Johansson was a significant factor in my decision to view it; it’s good to occasionally move away from superhero or action roles and try something different. It's frequently necessary to do so, not necessarily to avoid failure, but simply to unwind from more conventional movies. I found it agreeable enough, though that won’t be everyone's experience. The story is similar to the male-led 'Hangover', following five friends as they travel to Miami for a bachelorette celebration. The intention is for an unrestrained and carefree time, but things quickly go wrong, forcing them to conceal what happened. The night devolves into their worst imaginable scenario. The rest of the movie details how they attempt to resolve the situation, culminating in a surprise at the very end. The film’s reception was predictable, though it wasn't terrible if you’re just looking for something to pass the time. The conclusion suggested a possible sequel, but that now seems improbable. One problem is its adherence to familiar storytelling conventions and jokes borrowed from other movies, which many viewers will likely find disappointing.
