Stuart Millar seems to have enjoyed directing this, featuring Wayne returning as his "True Grit" character while tracking down some criminals who stole nitro from an army transport. Their plan involves robbing a bank, but en route they encounter a mission overseen by "Rev. Goodnight" and his daughter, "Eula" (Hepburn). The situation quickly deteriorates when the Reverend dies in a bar fight. Shortly after, Eula is found at his graveside by "Cogburn," and together—along with a young Native American boy called “Wolf” (Richard Romancito)—they begin following the killers. Initially, Cogburn and Eula constantly irritate one another, though Hepburn consistently seems to find ways to appear taller than her fellow actor. Over time, they develop an effective working relationship as they chase after the merciless "Hawk" (Richard Jordan). The film is full of exciting moments, amusement, and charm—it’s not particularly demanding but it's worth seeing, especially if you like Gatling guns. Don't miss Strother Martin's brief appearance either.
