This movie feels overly familiar; it borrows too much from other stories. Lloyd Bridges leads a group of astronauts on a lunar mission, but they’re diverted and land instead on Mars. They quickly find evidence of a once-thriving civilization that seemingly met a brutal end. As they investigate further, they encounter survivors, though it's unclear if these individuals are allies or threats, and whether they can assist the crew in returning to Earth. I’ve never really cared for Lloyd Bridges’ performances, and here he seems unenthusiastic, going through the motions alongside his meticulously styled hair. The supporting cast isn’t much better either; Osa Massen ("Lisa van Horn") delivers a stiff performance, and even Noah Beery Jnr, who is typically more engaging, appears lackluster in his role as "Corrigan." While it's brief and moves at an acceptable speed, with enough plot to hold your attention, the acting, special effects, and writing are all rather bland.
