This Aardman animated film has elements reminiscent of "The Ugly Duckling," centering on an egg that falls from its nest and is discovered by some gentle mice. Upon hatching, the chick, named “Robin,” is raised by these mice, who readily take him in; he initially believes himself to be a mouse with feathers. However, Robin begins to feel isolated because it can't fully become one of them, leading it on a journey filled with both danger and amusement. Luckily, Robin returns home just as snow falls and the mice are confronted by their own hungry adversaries. Perhaps now is the moment for those wings to be used? As always, Aardman’s stop-motion animation boasts incredible detail—though perhaps overly detailed this time around—and the characters display a delightful mischievousness that helps communicate a heartwarming message about family and friendship. It's an entertaining option for families during the Christmas season.
