A dangerous criminal is operating on back roads throughout a rural area of the Florida Panhandle. The story begins in 1983, when an attractive young woman driving a red Nova (Caitlin Carmichael) gives a ride to a disturbed man with long hair (Ryan Knudson). As the number of victims increases, it draws the attention of the local sheriff (Warren Fast), who also wrote and directed the movie. "Roadkill" (2024) combines elements seen in films such as “Kalifornia” or “Midnight in the Switchgrass,” with a Southern setting and car sequences reminiscent of "Smokey and the Bandit"—but without any humor. While it might be considered disposable, lacking substance and moving at a deliberate pace, I found it enjoyable for what it set out to be. The director effectively portrays Caitlin’s attractiveness without being exploitative. The movie has a runtime of 1 hour, 30 minutes, and was filmed in Ebro, located in the Florida Panhandle, as well as surrounding areas including Bay County and Washington County. GRADE: B/B-
