I was hoping to enjoy Ride On, but the excessive sweetness and sentimentality made me uncomfortable. Having watched many Asian movies and television shows, I suspect it will resonate well with viewers in Asia. As for myself, though, I struggled to connect with it. The level of sugary emotion felt hard to accept. The movie highlights Jackie Chan’s talents; his action sequences and physical feats are prominently displayed. His bond with the horse he befriends is a creative addition as well. Ultimately, it wasn't something I could get into, but if you appreciate films that lean heavily on heartwarming elements, then this one might be worth checking out.
