This film had a lot working in its favor initially. The performances were unexpectedly strong, and the symbolic elements felt thoughtfully integrated. It was convincing to see her character portrayed as truly ravaged by her experiences; her appearance with disheveled hair and dirt convincingly suggested hardship. The cinematography and location work stood out as particularly impressive. However, the initial confrontation that sets the entire plot in motion proved excessively exaggerated and difficult to accept as realistic. There was also an unreasonable amount of blood present, which I would have preferred to be toned down in favor of a more grounded and believable narrative—less needless violence, really.
