The story centers around Matt (played by Liam Neeson), a successful hedge fund manager who is driving his children to school when he receives an unsettling phone call. A voice informs him that a bomb has been placed beneath their vehicle and that his family’s safety depends on his immediate compliance with certain instructions. To emphasize the gravity of the situation, he's instructed to meet with a coworker named Sylvain (Arian Moayed), whose fate quickly becomes another problem altogether. Complicating matters further, Matt finds out his wife is already engaged in a meeting with an attorney! He’s then left trying to figure out how to survive this carefully orchestrated crisis. Director Nimród Antal initially maintains a sense of suspense as the details emerge, but unfortunately, it doesn't take long to guess the identity of the person behind everything and the subsequent car chases make even routine traffic stops by German police seem less effective! The final twenty minutes are particularly underwhelming, featuring explosive action sequences that lack substance. It feels like something you’d see on television rather than in a film; those who appreciate this type of story probably won't dislike it, mainly because it moves quickly, but its impact will likely fade soon after viewing.
