Resurrection proves to be a remarkably unsettling psychological thriller that feels intensely real, largely thanks to Rebecca Hall’s extraordinary performance. Her work suggests she could receive significant recognition beyond just film festivals, delivering an unforgettable and deeply affecting portrayal of a mother grappling with trauma. Director Andrew Semans subjects Hall to some truly shocking and upsetting developments in the story, alongside emotionally draining character progression, highlighted by a mesmerizing, unbroken 10-minute sequence. Tim Roth also contributes a notably unsettling presence. The film’s visuals and sound are used very effectively to build suspense and amplify the feeling of dread. The conclusion allows for varied understandings, which might not appeal to everyone, and there's a slight dip in pacing during the middle section that lessens the impact of what follows; however, these concerns don't detract from its place as one of the strongest films released this year.
