The movie dedicates a significant amount of time to showing Mangel traveling and having introspective conversations with his fellow performers, which ultimately prevents it from adequately showcasing his achievements or the methods he used to attain them. The filmmakers instead chose to emphasize larger-than-life personalities, superficial attempts at suspense, underdeveloped romantic interests, and unresolved storylines. It's just another example of promising narratives being let down by less capable directors. Both Marcel Mangel and Marcel Marceau were worthy of a more respectful presentation.
