It registered slightly higher than my initial viewing, though the ending still felt unnecessarily complicated. A significant disappointment was the disregard for plot threads from *Retribution*, specifically the zombie attack on the White House where the protagonists and antagonist made their final stand. Instead of that, Jill Valentine met her end off-screen—apparently—along with Alice’s “daughter.” We're given a Dr. Isaac who is portrayed as a religious zealot (or rather, a clone of him), accompanied by an assortment of unusual characters—including Ruby Rose before she achieved wider recognition, I believe—and Claire's reappearance (Ali Larter) after her absence in the previous film. Certain aspects weren’t entirely unpleasant, and the action sequences and stunts were acceptable; but like the preceding five films, it didn’t leave a lasting impression. The ending is deliberately left unresolved, predictably so. I suspect any future sequels will likely appear on whatever streaming platform Sony partners with... **2.5/5**
