This cop/crime thriller works effectively. It’s not something that will generate immense enthusiasm, but it rises above the average fare. The actors playing the main couple, Del Toro and Silverstone, are a good fit—they don't seem out of place in their roles, appearing as an ordinary, middle-aged pair. He seems tired yet retains strength; she’s pleasantly plump, cheerful, and practical. His dancing isn't particularly impressive; he's mockingly referred to Oklahoma because his moves aren't stylish. Their circle of friends is enjoyable—they seem to be living a little beyond their means, playfully teasing each other while also showing genuine care and closeness. Once the setting is established, a crime occurs: a real estate agent is brutally murdered. The investigation into this murder reveals multiple potential suspects, and nothing is as straightforward as one might hope. The story has sufficient complexity without being overly tangled; the characters feel believable, and their depiction is handled with skill. The direction, camera work, and editing build suspense. They avoid distracting stylistic flourishes, instead allowing focus on the narrative and the people within it. Without giving anything away, the plot developments aren't contrived. Everything stays grounded in what’s plausible, which enhances the story’s sense of realism and therefore its intensity. I can suggest this as a worthwhile, engaging, suspenseful, and fundamentally realistic crime thriller. One additional note: I’d previously only known “Justin Timberlake” as a singer, without knowing anything about his other work. He appears in this film as an actor; and he performs his part well, like someone who is experienced in the field. It was quite pleasant to see, especially compared to some singers who attempt acting and fail spectacularly.
