It’s hard to stay objective, but honestly, this film was remarkable—truly outstanding in every way. It feels nearly impossible to find any fault with it. The performances were exceptional, deserving of an Academy Award. The direction also felt award-worthy, and the screenplay as well. If you're looking for something to criticize, perhaps the musical score might be a minor point; however, even that is redeemed by the piano sequences, which Christopher Plummer performed beautifully. The film completely captivated me. It was striking and visually rich, with unexpected moments of warmth and humor that surprisingly enhanced its realism—a film tackling difficult subjects like mass murder and dementia, yet managing to humanize them through humor and heart, contributing to a deeply unsettling and vivid portrayal. And the ending’s surprise is absolutely worth paying attention to; you need to be observant because the clues are understated but present. I honestly can't recall seeing a film this good in quite some time.
