It's worth noting that Grace was eighteen during filming and would celebrate her nineteenth birthday shortly after production concluded. Her portrayal captures a charming and remarkably mature quality; she has an appealing style without being overtly provocative. I’d place her talent alongside actresses like Kiernan Shipka, who is more than seven years older, or even Hayden Panettiere in her younger years (RIP). However, this isn't solely a coming-of-age story—it also focuses significantly on Clara’s mother, portrayed by Allison Williams, and the circumstances she faces. The film initially follows a familiar narrative structure, but quickly surprises viewers with its creative screenplay. I won’t elaborate further, as it’s preferable to experience the unfolding events without prior knowledge. While some moments later in the movie feel somewhat expected, that's hardly unusual. Among the male characters, Dave Franco delivers a memorable performance reminiscent of Clark Kent, and Mason Thames is believable as Clara’s possible romantic interest. Clancy Brown also appears as Gramps. Ultimately, this is a well-crafted drama filled with genuine emotion and relatable situations, while still incorporating humor where appropriate. The film concludes on a positive note, leaving the viewer feeling uplifted rather than disappointed. The movie has a runtime of one hour and fifty-six minutes and was filmed from March to May 2025 in locations east of Atlanta, including Covington for some important scenes, Clarkston for the coffee shop setting, Duluth for the high school sequences, and Decatur for the cemetery.
