I recalled reviewing a film about a summer camp prank some months ago; that one was called 'Standing Up' and I really enjoyed it. This new movie shares certain similarities but addresses a different subject matter. It’s definitely an important film that exposes common difficulties experienced by physically vulnerable students, particularly loners who become targets for bullies. The story is based on the book ‘Regret!’. That’s why we need more adaptations of novels that can deliver messages to younger audiences. The narrative unfolds from the point of view of a high school student named David. He's also part of a band called 'Point Out!'. David isn't one to get involved in other people's business; he tends to keep to himself, focusing on his studies and hobbies. He has feelings for a classmate, Vera, who reciprocates those feelings, but they’ve never openly expressed them. A fellow student named Jochem enters the picture between their unspoken affection. He is overweight and lacks friends, making him an easy target for the class bully. As school continues, Jochem befriends David and Vera separately. He starts spending time with each of them, but this doesn't resolve his problems. Due to a slight misunderstanding among the three, the story reveals what they failed to understand—the seriousness of the situation. > **‘‘You should drink water instead. > It’s healthy. And it doesn’t stain.’’** Lately I've been drawn to Dutch films; I’ve seen some excellent ones and my interest and anticipation for them continues to grow with each new release. This is how I came across this film, which I found to be quite good. The movie’s theme is strong—a very valuable film to educate school and college students about right versus wrong. As you probably know, it deals with bullying, and the movie shows what needed to be shown. There's also a subtle romantic subplot and music in certain scenes. Bullying can seem enjoyable to some, but it’s a crime, especially when it leads to unexpected consequences. The story takes its time developing this kind of trouble, which can make it feel slow at times. It has a well-crafted screenplay focused on three characters, and each actor performed exceptionally in their role. This type of movie with a message is what I would like to see from Hollywood, because Hollywood films have the potential to reach audiences everywhere. I hope a dubbed or remake version will do justice to the truth that the film attempted to convey. It's a must-see, especially for parents of teenagers.
